As long as your dog or cat has an international health passport there are no restrictions in bringing your pet into/or taking it out of Bulgaria. Bulgarians are generally very fond of pets and there are plenty of pet shops around town. There have been some attempts recently to introduce tighter controls on pet ownership including the registration of all dogs with the local municipality.
